Mark Pocan, Out Gay Candidate, Projected Winner In Wisconsin House Primary

Pocan has more than 70 percent of the vote, with one-third of precincts reporting.

There's only one-third of the vote in, but WisconsinVote.org — a project of NPR and PBS — is projecting that Mark Pocan will be the winner of the Democratic primary in the state's second congressional district. The Democratic-leaning district has an open seat because Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin is running for Senate.

Pocan, who is gay, would be Wisconsin's third out gay member of Congress, following Baldwin and former Republican Rep. Steve Gunderson.
